Excited to work on a project for a key player in the energy landscape? The Business Process Managers (‘BPM’) at the National Control Center (NCC) are driven by the ever-changing energy landscape for system operation, changing national or EU regulations and the continued integration of European electricity markets.
Within the NCC, Business Process Managers own and continuously improve end-to-end operational processes. They ensure that market and system-design evolutions, policies and digital capabilities are translated into coherent, safe and executable Control Room processes.
Anchored in Operations, the BPM acts as the operational process integrator between NCC operational teams, Market Product Lines and IT product teams. The role ensures that operational requirements are structurally represented throughout market design, solution discovery, delivery, operational introduction and run.
For this specific hiring, the NCC is searching for a team reinforcement who will work on business critical processes linked to business domains as Congestion management, operational planning and Real Time Grid Operations.
His portfolio of processes to manage will include activities related to:
- Grid Security analysis processes: various advanced congestion management processes aiming at assessing grid security from year-ahead to intraday time horizons through the optimal determination of preventive and/or curative remedial actions to maintain operational security of Elia grid
- Grid models forecasting processes: “digital twin” processes aiming to model and forecast accurately the state of the grid from year-ahead to intraday forecast time horizons.
- Outage planning processes: processes to optimize the planning of the work on Elia grid with the target to find the optimal balance between maximizing the amount of outage requests, the flexibility to cope with increasing planning volatility and keeping high degree of security of supply for our grid customers.
- Real Time Grid Operations:
- operational processes supporting the real-time operation of the transmission grid, including system monitoring, operational coordination, alarm management,… This is closely linked to our SCADA and EMS.
- Operational processes supporting the management of dynamic phenomena on the grid through integration DSA (Dynamic Security analysis) and WAMS (Wide-Area Monitoring System) into the control room.
- The scope also includes leveraging historical operational experience, event analyses and operational insights to identify new business use cases, drive continuous process improvements and support the design of future operational capabilities.

Collaborates closely with the product team during implementation phase (e.g share feed-back on tools design, ..).
- Lead the operational integration of new tools and capabilities, including solution readiness assessment, training, procedures drafting, go-live and “hypercare” organization (in close collaboration with the product teams).
- Act as a process reference for operators and stakeholders, supporting operational questions and incidents and ensuring that lessons learned are translated into sustainable process improvements.
