Ypto is looking for a Business Area Lead SAP – Train Maintenance in Brussels to spearhead the Train Maintenance business area. In this role, you will lead a team of SAP specialists, align project activities with corporate strategy, and drive digital transformation.

How do you help make a difference?

As a Business Area Lead SAP – Train Maintenance, you will spearhead the Train Maintenance business area within the Solution Delivery ERP & Corporate Services (ECS) department. You will lead a team of functional SAP specialists, managing both project and support activities, and driving the digital transformation of NMBS through a defined roadmap aligned with business strategy.

Responsibilities

• Define a roadmap for the Business Area in collaboration with NMBS Technics, aligning with digital transformation and corporate priorities.
• Ensure that projects within the Business Area are aligned with the long‑term business and IT strategy of the greenfield SAP transformation program.
• Organise applications into portfolios, assign owners and backup owners, and maintain end‑to‑end responsibility for stability, availability, performance, and evolution.
• Manage stakeholder relationships (client NMBS and internal/external stakeholders) and coordinate to optimise Business Area management.
• Assess risks, visibility and project criticality, maintain regular alignment with the department head, and manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets in line with business priorities.
• Ensure optimal team staffing, act as escalation point for capacity conflicts, and coach and develop the team in collaboration with HR.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in IT, engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in an IT environment and in people management.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile and Waterfall).
• Knowledge of IT processes such as ITIL.
• Functional SAP knowledge within the Train Maintenance domain (PM, PP, PS, QM, IBP, DM).
• Knowledge of S/4HANA equivalents of maintenance‑oriented SAP modules.
• Knowledge of the SAP SaaS solution APM (Asset Performance Management).
• Experience with S/4HANA implementations.
• Knowledge of technologies used within the Maintenance domain (IoT, Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning).
• Business knowledge of the Maintenance domain and maintenance strategies such as Reliability‑Centred Maintenance.
• Experience within the railway sector.
• Experience with tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, Confluence and SAP Solution Manager.

Soft Skills
