Job summary

Telsmart is seeking a sharp Python backend developer to join our Zedelgem-based team. The role focuses on building scalable services for voice, provisioning, integrations, and AI-driven customer communication.

You will write clean Python, collaborate with product and frontend to ship features, and contribute to architectural decisions while improving testing, observability, and performance. This is a full-time, Belgium-based position with onsite presence.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong Python skills with deep understanding of the language.

• Ownership in production systems (on-call, fixes, learnings).

What you’ll be building

• Designing and evolving the services that power voice, provisioning, integrations, and AI-driven customer communication
• Writing Python that's a pleasure to read and a beast in production
• Working closely with product and frontend to turn good ideas into well-shipped features
• Contributing to architecture decisions - scalability, reliability, clear trade-offs
• Raising the quality bar: testing, observability, performance thinking

What we're looking for

• 5+ years of solid backend development experience
• Strong Python skills - you understand the language deeply enough to direct it, review it, and own it
• Fluent with AI-assisted development tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar - you use them to move fast and stay sharp, not as a crutch
• Real ownership in production systems (You've been paged, You've fixed it, You've learned from it)(sic? we need correct closing )
• Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-native patterns
• A product mindset - you care about outcomes, not just implementations

Bonus points

• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or high-volume APIs
• Familiarity with telecom or VoIP concepts (cool to have, not a dealbreaker)
