Job summary

Space Applications Services NV/SA in Belgium seeks a senior engineer to design, develop, verify and validate Guidance, Navigation and Control software for the LUVMI-M rover. You will define navigation software architecture, select rover and ground-based GNC algorithms and lead localisation, perception and autonomous navigation activities.

You will oversee test strategy, validation plans and act as the main interface between the development team and the LUVMI-M programme to ensure system

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in robotics, control, computer science, or embedded software engineering.
• 3+ years of demonstrable R&D or industrial experience in developing navigation software for space or ground robots.
• 2+ years of system engineering and technical project management skills.
• Strong background in space rover navigation, localisation, mapping, planning and control.
• Fluent in English with strong technical documentation skills.
• Proficient in C++ and Python on Linux with ROS and Git.
• Experience with sensors integration, calibration and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Analyse requirements from use cases and trade off designs.
• Coordinate system design for distributed rover and ground segment processing.
• Lead design of navigation software, hardware architectures, interfaces.
• Oversee inertial and visual localisation, perception and navigation.
• Define test plans and coordinate test set-ups for GNC verification/validation.
• Guide ground segment software design and interfaces.
• Develop embedded software interfaces with sensors, actuators and communications.
• Manage Agile tasks, code reviews and effort estimation.
• Support end-to-end integration, ground testing and on-target tuning.
