Job summary

Ghent University invites applications for a 100% tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Sociology of Solidarity, with a focus on voluntary associations and collective action. The successful candidate will develop an innovative research programme and teach courses across general sociology, organizations, and applied sociology.

The candidate should have an international profile, be able to supervise educational and research projects, and contribute to external engagements.

Qualifications

• Strong international scholarly track record in sociology of solidarity.
• Ability to initiate and supervise research and educational projects and secure funding.
• Willingness to learn Dutch to CEFR B2 within five years and reach C1 for teaching.

Responsibilities

• Develop an innovative research programme at the intersection of sociological time diagnoses and the sociology of solidarity, focusing on voluntary associations and collective action.
• Teach course units in general sociology, sociology of organizations, sociology of solidarity, and applied sociology.
• Engage with institutional and external partners and supervise educational and research projects.
