Randstad's client in Leuven seeks an Application / R&D Lab Technician to support testing, chemical formulation and process execution in a high-tech nano-electronics setting.

You’ll work in a world-leading research hub, coordinating with a dynamic team while handling precision cleanroom processes and data reporting. A chemistry background and English fluency are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in semiconductor processing (especially photolithography) or data analysis is a plus; on-the-job training is provided.
• High autonomy and flexibility to accommodate early morning or late evening cleanroom time slots.
• Leuven-based role with occasional visits to Zwijndrecht.
• Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking, attention to detail, and proactive troubleshooting.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Responsabilités

• Cleanroom operations: photolithography testing in 200 mm and 300 mm facilities, wafer coating, exposure, development, and metrology/inspection.
• Material characterization, defect measurements, and pattern quality analysis with advanced semiconductor equipment.
• Identify and resolve first-level hardware/process issues with engineers to implement solutions.
• Conduct analytical testing on chemicals or thin films and maintain clear documentation.
• Maintain safety culture by following guidelines and reporting risks.

The Role

As an Application / R&D Lab Technician, you will be based primarily in Leuven, working on-site at a world-leading research hub in nano-electronics. You will collaborate closely with a dynamic team of Application and R&D engineers to support testing, chemical formulation, and process execution.

Because you will be utilizing highly sought-after cleanroom equipment, flexibility is essential. You will work within assigned time slots to keep projects moving forward seamlessly.

Key Responsibilities

• Cleanroom operations: execute functional photolithography testing within 200 mm and 300 mm cleanrooms, including coating silicon wafers, exposure, development, and metrology/inspection of thin film patterns.
• Characterization & analysis: perform material characterization, defect measurements, and pattern quality analysis using advanced semiconductor equipment.
• Troubleshooting: identify and resolve first-level hardware or process-related issues, collaborating with engineers to implement sustainable solutions.
• Analytical testing & reporting: occasionally conduct analytical testing on chemicals or thin films, tracking statistical data and maintaining clear documentation.
• Safety & compliance: active participation in maintaining a strict safety culture by following guidelines and reporting potential risks.

Requirements

• Education: bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or equivalent practical experience.
• Technical skills: prior experience in semiconductor processing (especially photolithography) or statistical data analysis is a strong plus, though comprehensive on-the-job training is provided.
• Flexibility & independence: high degree of autonomy and flexibility regarding working hours to accommodate scheduled cleanroom time slots (which may fall early in the morning or late in the evening).
• Location: primarily based in Leuven, with occasional visits to the main site in Zwijndrecht.
• Mindset: strong organizational abilities, multi-tasking skills, a critical eye for detail, and a proactive troubleshooting attitude.
• Languages: fluent in English, both written and spoken.
