HumanInTech seeks an Application Architect / Technical Lead in Brussels for a 25-month, part-time assignment. You will modernise a legacy Belgian public-sector application to a low-code platform, oversee AI-assisted Mendix components, and define integration and security architectures.

Hybrid work in Brussels with 2/5 schedule and budget-driven phases. Required are expert-level architecture skills, Mendix experience, enterprise system know-how, and Agile/Scrum proficiency.

What you will do

A Belgian public-sector organisation is modernising a legacy application with over 150,000 lines of code and around 20 modules to a future-proof low-code platform. The application supports case management, data processing and reporting. The modernisation will use innovative and automated migration methodologies, including artificial intelligence, code analysis and model-driven development, to maximise efficiency and quality.

As Application Architect / Technical Lead, you will be responsible for:

• Designing the technical architecture of the solution
• Reviewing AI-generated Mendix components
• Establishing development standards
• Conducting code reviews
• Providing technical coaching to the development team
• Designing integration architecture and security

The project is structured in three phases spread over three budget years. Each phase delivers a standalone deliverable that can be used independently of future phases. Each phase is ordered separately.

The setting

This assignment runs for 25 months from December 2026 to the end of December 2028, part-time (2/5). The role is hybrid, based in Brussels. The actual start and number of days depend on budget approval.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team on a time-and-material basis. If the actual duration exceeds the estimated timeline, remaining work may be subject to a possible extension.
