ABAKUS IT SOLUTIONS in Brussels is seeking a Confirmed Functional Analyst to guide a major digital and organisational transformation, bridging business needs with IT teams and translating requirements into actionable configurations.

You will work in a hybrid setup, collaborating across entities to define target operating models, manage data migrations, and ensure data quality while adhering to regulatory constraints.

Qualificações

• Proven experience as Functional Analyst or Business Analyst in complex IT transformation.
• Experience in business and functional analysis, requirements gathering and functional specification writing.
• Experience mapping and modelling business processes, preferably using BPMN.
• Experience designing and executing application test plans, test scenarios and validation procedures.
• Understanding of data models, reference data, coding structures, interfaces and authoritative data sources.
• Basic to intermediate experience with data migration, data reconciliation and data quality controls.
• Practical knowledge of SQL and Python for data extraction, analysis and validation.
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders across organisations.
• Active knowledge of French, Dutch and English is required.
• Availability to work in a hybrid setup in Brussels, with at least two days per week on-site.

Responsabilidades

ABAKUS IT SOLUTIONS is looking for a Confirmed Functional Analyst to contribute to a major digital and organisational transformation programme in Brussels. This strategic assignment involves consolidating processes, systems and data across multiple organisations into a unified operating model, with a particular focus on application configuration, functional specifications and data migration.

Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and IT teams, analyse existing processes, define the target operating model and ensure that functional decisions are accurately translated into application requirements. Your work will contribute to the successful integration of business applications, data repositories and operational processes within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

Your Missions

Business Analysis & Target Operating Model

• Analyse and document existing business processes, application landscapes, business rules and organisational structures across multiple entities.
• Identify differences between existing operating models, understand their underlying reasons and assess their impact on the future organisation.
• Define and document target processes, functional requirements and operating models in line with applicable standards and regulatory constraints.
• Map and model business processes using appropriate methodologies, including BPMN.
• Produce and maintain detailed functional specifications that serve as the foundation for application configuration and migration activities.
• Identify dependencies, inconsistencies and potential risks associated with the transition to the target operating model.

Application Configuration & Data Migration

• Translate functional decisions into concrete application requirements, including configuration, reference data, coding structures, interfaces and access rights.
• Work closely with application owners and technical teams to assess system capabilities, limitations and compliance with established standards.
• Coordinate activities with the teams responsible for business applications, ensuring that functional requirements are properly implemented.
• Define and monitor application testing strategies, test plans and scenarios to validate the adapted solutions.
• Support data migration activities by defining validation criteria, preparing test datasets and performing before-and-after comparisons.
• Use SQL queries and Python scripts, where appropriate, to extract, analyse and validate data, identify inconsistencies and verify migration results.
• Ensure the consistency of reference data, organisational structures and coding standards across applications.
• Contribute to the definition and documentation of data models, interfaces, data sources and authoritative reference systems.

Stakeholder Management & Decision Support

• Prepare and facilitate workshops with business representatives, IT teams, application owners and other stakeholders.
• Gather and consolidate requirements from multiple entities with potentially divergent needs and priorities.
• Develop structured proposals and decision documents, clearly identifying options, impacts, dependencies and required arbitration.
• Maintain accurate and traceable documentation of decisions, including their dates, owners, rationale and implementation implications.
• Monitor action items, dependencies and deadlines to ensure alignment between business decisions and technical implementation.
• Communicate complex functional and technical topics clearly to both business and IT stakeholders.

Your Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Functional Analyst or Business Analyst in complex IT transformation, application integration or organisational change programmes.
• Confirmed expertise in business and functional analysis, requirements gathering and functional specification writing.
• Experience mapping and modelling business processes, preferably using BPMN.
• Experience designing and executing application test plans, test scenarios and validation procedures.
• Understanding of data models, reference data, coding structures, interfaces and authoritative data sources.
• Basic to intermediate experience with data migration, data reconciliation and data quality controls.
• Practical knowledge of SQL and Python for data extraction, analysis and validation.
• Experience managing multiple stakeholders across different organisations, teams and service providers.
• Previous experience in the public sector is an advantage.
• Ability to analyse unfamiliar data models critically and assess the reliability and consistency of data.

• Excellent documentation, communication and facilitation skills, with a structured and detail‑oriented approach.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and operate effectively in an environment without a single hierarchical authority across all stakeholders.
• Language skills: Active knowledge of French, Dutch and English is required.
