Conversa builds AI phone assistants for SMBs and is remote-first with one day in the office. You will join the team to improve AI prompts, build integrations with calendar and CRM, and enhance conversation quality using Python, FastAPI, and OpenAI/ElevenLabs models.

You don't need to be an AI expert but should enjoy exploring new AI tools and writing maintainable code. Compensation includes an annual bonus and pension benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Python experience.
• Built backend systems (FastAPI, Django or similar).
• Interest/experience with LLMs and AI tools.
• Readable, maintainable code.
• Dutch communication with customers.

Responsabilités

• Write and A/B-test prompts for better conversations.
• Build integrations with tools like Exact, Dentiva, Google Calendar.
• Optimize latency to under 500ms response time.
• Handle edge cases in conversations (anger, unexpected questions).
• Contribute ideas for new features and implement them.

Work on the core of our product: AI assistants that conduct natural phone conversations. You build prompts, integrations, and continuously improve conversation quality.

About Conversa

Conversa builds AI phone assistants for SMBs. Our customers are dentists, realtors, lawyers, and other entrepreneurs who are too busy to answer every call. We're an ambitious team, bootstrapped and profitable. We work remote-first: one day per week in the office, the rest is up to you.

The role

You work with our lead engineer on everything that makes the AI assistants better. That means: writing and testing prompts, building integrations with calendar and CRM systems, and improving the latency and naturalness of conversations. We use Python, FastAPI, and work with models from OpenAI and ElevenLabs. You don't need to be an AI expert, but you should find it interesting to dive in.

What you'll do

• Write and A/B-test prompts for better conversations
• Build integrations with Exact, Dentiva, Google Calendar and other tools
• Optimize latency (we aim for <500ms response time)
• Solve edge cases: what does the AI do when someone is angry, or asks a strange question?
• Contribute ideas for new features and build them yourself

Who we're looking for

• 2+ years of experience with Python
• You have previously built backend systems (FastAPI, Django, or similar)
• You enjoy experimenting with LLMs and new AI tools
• You write code that others can read and maintain
• You communicate well in Dutch (customers speak Dutch)
