Job summary

Pauwels Consulting is seeking an AI Engineer to transition AI prototypes into scalable production environments. The role emphasizes agentic automation, MLOps frameworks, and strong collaboration with data scientists to ensure governance and quality across Azure-based solutions.

The position requires 6+ years in software/data engineering and 3+ years in AI/ML or MLOps with production experience, plus fluent Dutch and English.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in software or data engineering.
• 3+ years as AI/ML Engineer or MLOps with production experience.
• Expertise in AIOps and MLOps using Azure DevOps, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Strong Python skills with emphasis on clean code and testing.
• Experience with Azure ecosystem: Azure ML, Azure OpenAI, AI Foundry, Azure AI Search, Microsoft Fabric, and AKS.
• Knowledge of agentic frameworks, RAG, Copilot Studio, dspy, and tool use/function calling.
• Experience with model registries, feature stores, experiment tracking, and monitoring.
• Excellent communication with ability to explain technical choices to non-technical peers.
• Fluency in Dutch and English with basic French.

Responsibilities

• Lead AI solutions end-to-end from PoV to production-ready, scalable environments.
• Design and build reliable data and inference pipelines with CI/CD and observability.
• Guide data scientists to roll out models with high quality, security, and governance.
• Develop agentic automation using RAG, tool use, and orchestration patterns.
• Define evaluation/testing frameworks, including red teaming and guardrails for model robustness.
• Advise stakeholders on architectural choices, risks, and feasibility to prevent shadow AI.
