Vlaams Instituut voor Biotechnologie (VIB) is seeking a Principal Investigator to join the VIB Center for AI and Computational Biology (VIB.AI) and KU Leuven as Group Leader and Professor. You will build an independent research program, foster collaboration, and contribute to education in a dynamic AI biology environment.

This international position offers full salary, core funding renewable every 5 years, and access to top facilities.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent experience in machine learning or a related quantitative field.
• Proven track record in ML research and/or applied ML in academic/industrial settings.
• Excellent ML and programming experience.
• Publications demonstrating creativity and impact in biology/computational research.
• Ability to secure competitive funding.

Responsabilités

• Build and lead an independent research program as Group Leader.
• Set up or consolidate a strong network within VIB, KU Leuven and beyond.
• Teach courses in English or Dutch within the Faculty of Medicine.
• Provide scientific and societal services enhancing the VIB and university reputation.
