BDO Belgium is seeking an Innovation Officer in Accounting to shape the future of our accounting practice. You’ll turn ideas into action, prototype solutions, and drive adoption across our accounting teams with a practical, hands-on approach.

You’ll combine accounting knowledge with technology, data analytics and automation, building measurable impact through pilots, KPIs, training and compliant, high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of experience within accounting or strong affinity with accounting processes.
• Hands-on experience with data analytics, BI tools, RPA, workflow automation or ML/AI proofs of concept.
• Ability to build prototypes or drive R&D initiatives based on structured requirement lists.
• Strong stakeholder management skills: you translate business challenges into practical technical solutions.
• Fluency in English and Dutch or French.

Responsabilités

• Accelerate the accounting innovation roadmap – Co-develop and execute a pragmatic innovation roadmap aligned with the strategic priorities of our accounting department.
• Turn business needs into concrete solutions – Translate requirements from accounting teams into proofs of concept, prototypes and pilots.
• Experiment hands-on with new tools – Explore and test data analytics, BI tools, RPA, ML/AI prototypes, workflow automation and collaborative solutions.
• Drive pilots and adoption – Coordinate pilot trajectories with internal teams and member firms, define impact and risk assessments, and ensure smooth adoption within accounting practice.
• Measure what matters – Establish clear KPIs to quantify traction, time savings and quality improvements.
• Enable and inspire colleagues – Develop training materials, onboard users and support change processes.
• Safeguard quality and compliance – Ensure new technologies are implemented in line with accounting standards, quality requirements and regulatory expectations.
