Job summary

Care and Connect Services and Consulting (CCSC) is seeking a Youth Worker to support young people in residential care. The role involves teaching practical and social skills, guiding daily routines, and promoting life-skills development in a nurturing, safe home environment.

The ideal candidate will be organised, adaptable and able to engage with diverse stakeholders including CCSC staff and clients, with a focus on trauma-informed care and culturally connected support for Aboriginal and Torres

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention or equivalent.
• Paid Working with Children (Blue Card) in Queensland required.
• Experience with children and young people in residential care settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to young people in residential care settings, ensuring safety and well-being.
• Support the development of social and interpersonal skills through engaging activities and programmes.
• Build rapport and maintain professional boundaries with young people to foster trust and respect.
• Implement Trauma Informed Care principles in all interactions and interventions.
• Monitor and document progress, reporting concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure comprehensive support.
• Encourage independent living skills including cooking, meal planning, budgeting, shopping, and cleaning.
• Ensure services are community-driven and aligned with Aboriginal values and priorities.
