Job summary

Junction Support Services in Wangaratta is seeking Residential Care Youth Workers to support young people with complex trauma histories in a structured, trauma-informed setting. The role emphasizes consistent boundaries, professional accountability and collaboration with case managers and therapeutic teams.

Suitable candidates have a Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention (or equivalent), experience with young people, and a current Working with Children check, driver’s licence

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Child, Youth & Family Intervention (or equivalent) as required.
• Experience with young people or strong motivation to learn in residential care.
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence, Working with Children Check and First Aid Certificate.
• Willingness to undergo National Police Check and ongoing training.

Responsibilities

• Deliver trauma-informed, child-centred care within a structured home environment.
• Support daily routines including cooking, household tasks, transport and medication.
• Recognise early warning signs and respond using Behaviour Support Plans.
• Provide activity-based engagement to support regulation and connection.
• Complete case notes, incident reports, and documentation to DFFH standards.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
