Job summary

Act for Kids is hiring a Youth Worker in our Nambour Individual Support Services team. You will build trusted relationships with children and young people, deliver practical, time-limited support, and connect families to school and community resources.

This role emphasizes hands-on work, transport, and after-hours support to meet young people where they are. You will need a Certificate IV in youth work or related discipline (or be studying toward) and at least two years of intensive youth work

• Certificate IV in Youth Work or related discipline (or studying toward).
• Minimum two years’ experience providing intensive youth work support.
• Eligible to work in Australia with required checks (Working with Children Check or exemption).

Job description

We are excited to welcome a Youth Worker to our Nambour Individual Support Services team! In this role, you’ll be a trusted support person for children and young people navigating complex challenges; building genuine connections, boosting confidence, and helping them stay engaged with school, community, and life. Working with our Nambour team, you’ll deliver hands‑on, practical support and short‑term interventions that create meaningful, lasting impact for young people and their families.

• Level 3 SCHCADS Award.
• Salary range: $50.61 - $54.28 per hour + Superannuation.
• Casual contract opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a game‑changer for young people: Build strong, trusting relationships and deliver impactful, time‑limited support to children and youth facing high‑risk, complex life situations.
• Champion connection and belonging: Help young people engage with school, community, and healthy social networks; supporting confidence, wellbeing, and positive life skills.
• Collaborate for real outcomes: Work alongside passionate professionals, families, and partner agencies to achieve meaningful goals and wrap‑around support.
• Get hands‑on and make it happen: Provide practical support including transport, community access, and out‑of‑hours care; meeting young people where they are, when they need it most.

About You

• Certificate IV in a relevant discipline (youth work, community services) or studying toward a relevant tertiary qualification.
• At least two (2) years’ experience providing intensive youth work support to young people in a child protection context or who have experienced trauma and disruptions in attachment.
• Eligibility to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required), including holding or obtaining required checks (Working with Children Check or professional exemption).
