Job summary

Durri Aboriginal Corporation Medical Service (ACMS) in Kempsey is seeking a dedicated youth suicide prevention educator to work across the Macleay and Nambucca Valleys. You will develop culturally responsive prevention education and act as a referral pathway to support Aboriginal youth aged 12–24.

Qualifications

• Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (identified position).

Responsibilities

• Provide suicide prevention education to community members in the Macleay and Nambucca Valleys.
• Operate as a referral pathway to assist in reducing suicide attempts and deaths among Aboriginal youth (12–24).
• Develop and implement culturally responsive suicide prevention education approaches.
• Strengthen local service system coordination and promote community capacity and resilience.
• Collaborate with service providers and government agencies on prevention programs (Towards Zero Tolerance for Suicide, Building Resilience).
• Deliver community education sessions and promote wellbeing in media and community settings.

Education

Certificate III ATSI primary health care

Certificate IV within 18 months

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent

Experience with community programs

Strong networking and communication skills

Ability to work with youth 12-24

Knowledge of local Aboriginal community
