Job summary

headspace Dubbo is seeking an Aboriginal Youth Wellbeing Worker to join the Outreach Program. You will support young people and their communities, delivering culturally safe, youth-focused wellbeing services in the Wiradjuri region.

You will travel to rural and remote communities, engage with families, schools and services, and work with First Nations staff to enhance youth mental health access.

Qualifications

• Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander (this is a genuine occupational requirement).
• A qualification or relevant industry experience in Mental Health, Primary Health, Community Services.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with integrity and initiative.
• Great communication and people skills and the ability to manage your time well.
• Confidence working independently and as part of a team.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
• A valid Australian Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work.

Responsibilities

• Encourage young people to reach out for support and share ways to look after mental health in culturally appropriate ways.
• Provide warm, culturally safe guidance to help young people aged 12–25 find the right services and support.
• Bring people together through community activities that support wellbeing across physical, emotional, social and spiritual domains.
• Regular travel to rural and remote communities to deliver services and support to young people.
