Job summary

A Good Start to Life is seeking dedicated care support for children and young people aged 0–18 in Cairns. The role focuses on building independence through daily routines, assisting with personal care, meals and morning/evening preparation, and providing a supportive, safe environment.

You will be part of a small, trusted team with a permanent part-time roster, offering predictable hours and ongoing relationship-building with each young person and their care team.

Qualifications

• Mandatory care role requiring patience and calm demeanor.
• Must hold or be enrolled in Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, Youth Work or related field.
• Necessary safety and safeguarding knowledge (trauma-informed, person-centered approaches).

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people with individualized routines and life skills.
• Care for personal needs, meals, and daily preparation alongside their goals.
• Maintain safety, dignity and respect while responding to behaviours of concern.

Education

Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, Youth Work, or related qualification
