Job summary

A Good Start to Life in Townsville offers a permanent part-time role supporting children and young people with diverse needs. You’ll help with daily routines, personal care, meals, transport to activities, and daily independence while keeping safety, dignity and respect at the forefront.

You’ll work a regular roster with evenings and weekends, build trusted relationships, respond to behaviours of concern, and collaborate with families and carers to implement individual care plans.

Qualifications

• Genuinely enjoys working with children and young people aged 0–18.
• Comfortable supporting young people with complex physical, intellectual, developmental and medical disabilities.
• Provides personal care and medical support with patience, dignity and respect.
• Calm, patient and able to support emotional regulation during challenging moments.
• Follows individual care, medical and support plans to maintain safety and consistency.
• Encourages independence, participation and community involvement regardless of ability.
• Strong communicator who builds trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Brings warmth, positivity and a willingness to learn for diverse needs.
