Job summary

Kanda is seeking dedicated caregivers to support children and young people across shifts between Caboolture and Joyner. You will help with morning routines, meals, school preparation, activities, and daily life skills, while maintaining safety and professional boundaries. Sleepovers and flexible shifts are part of the roster.

You’ll bring a compassionate, patient, and team-oriented approach, with a willingness to learn and stay curious in a child-safe environment.

Qualifications

• Current Australian driver’s licence (minimum P2).
• Working with Children Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain them.
• Current First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
• Completed or enrolled Certificate IV or Diploma in Community Services, Youth Work, Social Work or related qualification.
• Experience supporting people with complex behaviours using trauma-informed, person-centred approaches and maintaining safety during escalated situations.
• Availability for a 7-day roster, including two sleepover shifts per fortnight (8am–4pm, 4pm–8am, sleepovers 10pm–6am).

Responsibilities

• Support children and young people with daily routines, meals, school preparation, activities and appointments.
• Help with homework, training, and participation in activities they enjoy.
• Assist with household routines and life skills.
• Sit and listen, manage challenging behaviour, and keep everyone safe.
• Stay calm, think clearly, and respond rather than react; be the steady adult in the room.
