Job summary

AKG is seeking a Youth Mentor/Employment Consultant to join the Transition to Work Team. You will support a caseload of youth, connect with the community to attract participants, and present information at local schools about Transition to Work.

The role focuses on creating and sourcing education and employment opportunities and helping clients identify their skills and abilities. You will tailor and implement individual service plans, build strong relationships with employers and training

Qualifications

• Passion for working with clients and local community networks.
• Excellent communication skills and positive attitude.
• Experience working in a performance driven environment.
• Qualification in Social or Youth Work (Desirable).
• Previous experience in Employment Services, particularly Transition to Work.

Responsibilities

• Support caseload of youth and understand barriers.
• Engage with local youth to attract eligible participants to the service.
• Attend local secondary schools to provide information about Transition to Work.
• Create and source education and employment opportunities for clients.
• Support clients to identify their skills and abilities.
• Conduct, tailor, and implement an individual service plan.
• Build sustainable relationships with employers, training organisations and community organisations.
• Maintain accurate records for clients.
• Ensure the local youth hub provides a safe and welcoming environment.
• Participate in community events to promote the program.
