Job summary

AKG is seeking a Youth Mentor/Employment Consultant to support a caseload of youth, engage with local schools and community to attract eligible participants, and create tailored service plans.

You will build relationships with employers and education providers, maintain accurate records, and contribute to a welcoming youth hub while working Monday to Friday 8:30am–5:00pm; full-time role with opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills and positive attitude.
• Experience working in a performance driven environment.
• Qualification in Social or Youth Work (Desirable)
• Mental Health First Aid (Desirable)
• Qualification in AOD (Desirable)
• Previous experience in Employment Services, particularly Transition to Work

Responsibilities

• Support and understand a caseload of youth's barriers.
• Engage with young people in the local community to attract eligible participants to the service.
• Attend local secondary schools to provide information to staff and students about Transition to Work.
• Create and source education and employment opportunities for clients.
• Support clients to identify their skills and abilities.
• Conduct, create, tailor, and implement an individual service plan.
• Build sustainable relationships with local employers, registered training organisations and community organisations.
• Maintain accurate records for clients.
• Ensure the local youth hub provides a safe and welcoming environment.
• Participate in local community events and forums to promote the transition to Work program
