Job summary

Anglicare Southern Queensland – Beenleigh QLD is seeking a Practitioner to support young people aged 16 to 25 in accommodation and community settings. The role focuses on trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred support to help young people achieve housing stability and meaningful outcomes.

The position is full-time (38 hours per week) at the new Beenleigh youth accommodation service, featuring 30 semi-independent one-bedroom units.

Qualifications

• Current Blue Card (Working with Children).
• Current Queensland Driver Licence.
• Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Behavioural Sciences or similar field and demonstrated practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Build safe, respectful and trusting relationships with young people in accommodation or community.
• Support young people to recognise strengths, skills and aspirations and set goals.
• Use advantaged thinking and coaching approaches to build confidence and ownership.
• Provide trauma-informed, person-centred support promoting safety, choice and collaboration.
• Help young people build practical skills for housing stability and independence.
• Assist with accessing education, employment, health, wellbeing and community opportunities.
• Collaborate with families and natural supports where appropriate to strengthen networks.
• Connect young people with community, government and specialist services.
• Maintain high-quality, timely documentation reflecting progress and outcomes.
• Work with the team to provide consistent, coordinated support across accommodation and outreach.
• Contribute to service planning and responding to emerging needs and gaps.
• Foster a culture of learning, reflective practice and shared responsibility.
