Job summary

Mission Australia Townsville Youth Foyer is seeking a Youth Development Coach to provide individualised case management and practical support for young people aged 16-25. You’ll help build life skills, independence and pathways to education, training and employment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people and/or in youth homelessness, housing or community services.
• Strong communication, engagement and advocacy skills.
• Ability to work within a strengths-based and person-centred framework.
• Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain before commencement.
• Current Driver’s Licence with no restrictions.

• Provide one-on-one support and coaching, helping young people navigate challenges and build confidence for the future.
• Deliver practical life skills support, including budgeting, tenancy skills, wellbeing and community participation.
• Connect young people with relevant services, programs and opportunities that support positive outcomes.
• Facilitate engaging activities and workshops that encourage personal growth, independence and community connection.
• Keep accurate case notes and contribute to a safe, supportive and well-run service.
• Work closely with colleagues, education providers and community partners to help young people thrive.

Your opportunity

Join the team at Townsville Youth Foyer, a unique program that combines safe accommodation with support, coaching and opportunity for young people aged 16-25.

Using the Youth Foyer model and a strengths-based approach, you’ll work alongside young people to build independence, achieve personal goals, and create pathways into education, training and employment.

As a Youth Development Coach, you’ll provide individualised case management and practical support, helping young people develop life skills, strengthen community connections and achieve sustainable outcomes.

Through positive relationships, advocacy and coaching, you’ll empower young people to build confidence and create brighter futures.

You’ll be part of a passionate and supportive team committed to making a lasting impact in the lives of young people in Townsville.

Must be able to work Monday and Friday from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm onsite.

Your key responsibilities will be to

Requirements for success

• Experience working with young people and/or within the youth homelessness, housing or community services sector.
• Strong communication, engagement and advocacy skills.
• Ability to work within a strengths-based and person-centred framework.
• Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records.
• Relevant qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Behavioural Sciences or a related human services field, or equivalent experience.
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
• Current Driver’s Licence with no restrictions

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
