Youth Case Worker – Cultural & Community Support

Job summary

North West Queensland Indigenous Community Social Services Ltd. seeks a self-motivated Case Worker to join the Youth Transitional Hub, providing individualised case management for at-risk young people within a strengths-based, culturally responsive framework.

You will identify needs, develop plans, coordinate referrals, and support access to housing, counselling, education and other services, working with families and agencies to reduce anti-social behaviours and improve wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Diploma-level qualification in Social Work, Child, Youth and Family Intervention or a related field.
• Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, communities and protocols.
• Demonstrated experience in case work and case management, preferably with young people or vulnerable individuals.
• Knowledge of services and referral pathways for housing, counselling, family support, legal, education, employment and AOD services.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with young people, families and service providers.
• Experience collaborating with government agencies and community organisations.
• Understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Case Worker.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders.
• Good written communication for notes, reports and documentation.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic systems.
• Willingness to undertake training and professional development.
• Australian Driver Licence
• Blue Card or ability to obtain one
• National Police Check or ability to obtain one

Responsibilities

• Provide individualised case management and support to young people.

• Collaborate with Youth Justice, QPS and other agencies to assess risks and needs of youths.
