North West Queensland invites applications for a Youth Worker to supervise and support young people subject to a youth justice intervention. This casual role supports watch houses, delivers core programs, and works with families and agencies to design access to services.

The position requires a valid C class licence, Blue Card, and willingness to work ad hoc shifts including weekends and public holidays under the Queensland Public Service Award.

Qualifications

  • Mandatory requirements: Drivers' license (unrestricted C class) and Blue Card linked to organisation prior to starting.
  • Casual employee: ad hoc shifts including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays; governed by Queensland Public Service Officers and Other Employees Award - State 2015.
  • Desirable: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background where possible.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver core programs, alone or in teams, aligned with Youth Justice Caseworkers' service response plan.
  • Provide supervision and support to young people in watch houses and ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Consult and negotiate with government and community agencies, service providers and families to improve access to services.
  • Maintain accessible and clear case records to assist service planning and reviews.
  • Assist with weekly rosters for supervised orders and bail programs.
  • Conduct regular audits of service delivery sites and program equipment for safety.
