Job summary

NSBC Group in Sydney seeks a Yard Person to maintain the depot yard, fleet, and facilities to high operational standards. You will support vehicle preparation, charging, refuelling, cleaning, and basic maintenance to ensure vehicles are ready for service.

You will also perform grounds maintenance, assist with inspections and audits, and coordinate with contractors, upholding safety and efficiency in a busy transport environment.

Qualifications

• Current HR Licence and ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.
• Experience in transport/logistics, fleet or maintenance environments.
• Good communication and organisational skills, able to work independently.
• Basic computer and administrative skills, strong safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Charge electric buses according to fleet schedules and requirements.
• Refuel diesel and other fleet vehicles as needed.
• Conduct daily fleet checks and report defects or issues.
• Move and position vehicles within the depot as directed.
• Ensure vehicles are available, clean, and prepared for operations.
• Assist with vehicle presentations for inspections, registrations, and audits.
• Maintain high standards of vehicle presentation internally and externally.
• Undertake minor repairs and maintenance within competency and training limits.
• Perform lawn mowing, edging, gardening, and grounds maintenance.
• Conduct routine depot facility inspections and identify maintenance needs.

The Yard person is responsible for ensuring the depot yard, fleet, and facilities are maintained to a high operational standard. This role supports the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the NSBC Group fleet through vehicle preparation, charging, refuelling, cleaning, basic fleet maintenance activities and depots, Yard lawns and gardens maintenance, contractor coordination, and administrative support. The position plays a critical role in ensuring vehicles are ready for service, depot facilities are well maintained, and contractor management.

Key responsibilities

• Charge electric buses in accordance with fleet charging schedules and operational requirements.
• Refuel diesel and other fleet vehicles as required.
