Job summary

Skillforce Recruitment Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to join our valued client for ongoing temp-to-perm work in Western Australia. The role involves loading, unloading, and transporting steel products, with responsibilities spanning material handling, yard control, and daily forklift inspections.

The successful candidate will have 1–2 years of counterbalance forklift experience in heavy industry, pass pre-employment medical tests, and demonstrate a safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience operating heavy counterbalance forklifts in heavy manufacturing/steel fabrication environments.
• Ability to pass mandatory pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening.
• Strong WHS compliance mindset and awareness around hazardous chemicals.
• Physical fitness for manual handling in hot, noisy industrial settings.

Responsibilities

• Move and stage material, safely transporting steel products between lines and workstations.
• Load and unload raw steel from client transport and place finished products onto trailers.
• Sort and organise steel bundles per production schedules and chemical treating requirements.
• Identify material damage or shortages prior to dipping and maintain yard organisation to prevent damage.
• Conduct daily pre-start forklift inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Support rigging and production teams with manual handling when forklift tasks are caught up.
