Job summary

Complete Metal Industries in NSW Sydney is seeking a hands-on Yard Coordinator / Forklift Operator to lead daily yard activities at our scrap metal recycling facility. You'll be out in the yard, coordinating truck movements, guiding drivers and occasionally operating a forklift to move materials.

This role requires clear two-way radio communication, strong safety awareness, and the ability to prioritise tasks during busy periods.

Yard Coordinator / Forklift Operator – Hands-On Yard Leadership Role

We are looking for an energetic, switched-on Yard Coordinator / Forklift Operator to take a leading role in the day-to-day coordination of our busy scrap metal recycling facility.

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit in an office all day. You’ll be out in the yard, communicating constantly over two-way radio, coordinating truck movements, directing drivers and jumping on a forklift whenever required.

You’ll be one of the key people keeping the yard organised, safe and productive.

About the Role

Your day will involve:

• Coordinating incoming and outgoing truck movements throughout the yard
• Directing drivers to the correct loading, unloading and processing areas
• Communicating clearly and confidently using two-way radio
• Working closely with machine operators, truck drivers, weighbridge staff and management
• Operating forklifts to move, load and unload materials when required
• Monitoring traffic flow and preventing unnecessary congestion or delays
• Keeping loading and unloading areas organised and accessible
• Helping prioritise jobs when the yard becomes busy
• Maintaining strong housekeeping and safety standards across the site
• Identifying issues early and communicating them to the relevant people
• Being hands-on and helping the team wherever required

About You

You will need to be:

• An excellent communicator – particularly over two-way radio
• Confident giving clear instructions to truck drivers and operators
• Energetic, agile and comfortable being on your feet throughout the day
• Happy to regularly hop on and off a forklift as the operation requires
• Friendly, approachable and upbeat while still being able to take control when required
• Highly organised with good situational awareness
• Able to think quickly and prioritise multiple truck movements
• Safety focused and comfortable working around trucks and heavy machinery
• Reliable, punctual and willing to take ownership of the yard
• A team player who isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty
• Ability to confidently use two-way radio communication
• Previous experience operating a forklift

Highly Regarded

• Experience in scrap metal, recycling, transport, logistics, warehousing or heavy industry
• Experience coordinating trucks or managing yard movements
• Experience working around heavy machinery
