Steelrig Fabrication Pty Ltd, based in Dandenong South, seeks an experienced Workshop Supervisor to oversee day-to-day workshop operations, lead welders and boilermakers, and ensure quality and safety standards across all fabrication projects.

You will drive production schedules, compliance with WH&S laws, and continuous improvement initiatives while mentoring a skilled team in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of welding standards, QA and safety regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fabrication plans.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Victorian WorkSafe requirements.
• Problem-solving and proactive approach to operational issues.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Experience with STRUMIS or similar workshop management systems.
• Experience with CNC nesting and operation.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join our team at our Dandenong South facility on a full-time basis. In this pivotal supervisory role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our workshop, managing a skilled team of welders and boilermakers whilst ensuring all fabrication work meets our exacting quality standards and safety requirements. You will play a crucial role in driving operational efficiency, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and contributing to the strategic objectives of our fabrication business. Your leadership and technical expertise will be essential to the successful delivery of our structural steel projects.

Key responsibilities

Supervise and manage a team of welders, boilermakers and fabrication staff, providing clear direction, training and performance feedback

Plan and coordinate workshop activities to ensure efficient production schedules and timely project delivery

Monitor quality standards throughout the fabrication process, conducting inspections and implementing corrective actions as needed

Ensure strict compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, company policies and industry best practices

Maintain accurate records of production, safety incidents, training and maintenance activities

Manage workshop equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs when necessary

Assist in the recruitment and selection of new workshop staff as required

What we're looking for

Proven supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment

Strong knowledge of welding standards, quality control procedures and safety regulations relevant to structural steel fabrication

Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and fabrication plans

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members

Sound understanding of workplace health and safety legislation, including Victorian WorkSafe requirements

Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving operational issues

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively

Computer literacy and experience with workshop management systems, namely STRUMIS or similar.

Experience with CNC nesting and operation
