Job summary

RAMS Sheetmetal Engineering, based in Dandenong South, Victoria, is seeking a skilled Welder for a permanent full-time role. You will weld and assemble steel and aluminium components for sheet metal fabrication, reading drawings and ensuring workmanship meets specifications and safety standards.

The ideal candidate holds a relevant trade qualification and has at least 1 year of welding or fabrication experience, with proficiency in MIG and TIG welding. Competitive salary plus Superannuation.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, plans and specifications to determine welding requirements and techniques.
• Join metal sections using MIG, TIG and other welding techniques and equipment.
• Inspect welds for accuracy, penetration, strength and quality to meet standards.
• Identify and rectify welding defects to ensure finished components meet specs.
• Grind, clean and finish welded joints and metal surfaces to required quality.
• Operate and maintain welding equipment and workshop tools safely.
• Collaborate with fabrication and production teams to complete tasks efficiently.

As part of their ongoing operations and business requirements, they are seeking a skilled and experienced Welder to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for welding, joining and assembling steel and aluminium components used in sheet metal fabrication and customised manufacturing projects, ensuring completed work meets technical specifications, structural integrity requirements and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Required Skills and Experience

• Relevant trade qualification in welding or metal fabrication, such as Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience in welding or metal fabrication.
• Demonstrated experience in welding and assembling steel and aluminium components.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, engineering plans and specifications.
• Sound knowledge of MIG, TIG and other relevant welding techniques, equipment and workshop practices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds and finished metal components.
• Ability to inspect completed welds and identify defects or required rectification.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication, steel fabrication or a similar manufacturing environment will be highly regarded.
