Job summary

2XM Recruit in Smithfield, NSW is seeking an experienced Workshop Mechanical Fitter to join the Service Centre team. The role includes disassembling, inspecting, repairing and reassembling mechanical equipment, with site visits for installation and commissioning.

Qualified tradesperson with rotating machinery experience, fault-finding skills, and ability to read drawings is essential. A current driver licence and forklift licence are required, with crane experience advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification (Cert III in Engineering – Mechanical) required.
  • Experience servicing/repairing rotating machinery.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and manuals.
  • Proficient in electronic service reports.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence.
  • Forklift Licence (preferred).
  • Experience with overhead cranes is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble mechanical equipment for inspection, servicing and repair.
  • Diagnose faults and prepare inspection reports with repair requirements.
  • Reassemble equipment per drawings and specs.
  • Test and commission repaired equipment to ensure performance.
  • Complete service documentation and testing records.
  • Use hand and power tools applying fitting principles.
  • Attend customer sites to install, commission, troubleshoot and repair.
  • Provide technical support during breakdowns and maintenance.
  • Work safely following WHS policies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and maintain workshop standards.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Workshop Mechanical Fitter 2XM Recruit•Smithfield, NSW, AU

  • $47.20 Per Hour ($93,264.45 Per Annum) + All Overtime Paid at Double Time from the First 15 Minutes.
  • Friday 1:00pm finish with standard working hours of Mon-Thurs of 7:00am-3:30pm & Fri 7:00am-1:00pm.
  • 5 Weeks Annual Leave + 17.5% Annual Leave Loading.
  • Annual Performance Bonus of up to 6 weeks' salary (3 weeks at 100% KPI achievement).

Role Tasks & Duties
  • Disassemble mechanical equipment for inspection, servicing and repair.
  • Diagnose faults and prepare detailed inspection reports outlining repair requirements and replacement components.
  • Reassemble equipment in accordance with engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturer procedures.
  • Conduct testing and commissioning of repaired equipment to ensure operational performance and quality standards are achieved.
  • Complete service documentation, repair reports and testing records accurately.
  • Utilise a wide range of hand and power tools whilst applying sound mechanical fitting principles.
  • Attend customer sites to install, commission, troubleshoot and repair company equipment as required.
  • Provide technical support to customers during breakdowns and planned maintenance activities.
  • Work safely at all times in accordance with company WHS policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining high workshop standards.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
Required Skills, Experience & Competencies
  • Mechanical Trade Qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience servicing, repairing or overhauling rotating machinery or similar industrial equipment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Sound computer literacy with the ability to complete electronic service reports.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Current Forklift Licence (highly regarded).
  • Previous overhead crane experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
