Job summary

2XM Recruit is seeking a Rail Workshop Electrical Maintenance Fitter for an initial 6-month contract in a Western Sydney maintenance facility. The role involves preventative and breakdown maintenance of pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems on automated production equipment, with shift rotations and overtime approvals.

The successful candidate will hold an Australian Certificate III in Mechanical Trade, have proven fault-finding skills, and fault-diagnosis experience on rotating equipment

Qualifications

  • Hold a recognised Australian Mechanical Trade Qualification.
  • Proven welding experience of manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience maintaining rotating equipment including motors, pumps and conveyors.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and mechanical assembly documentation.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment (dial indicators, micrometers, verniers).
  • Welding and fabrication experience is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, predictive and reactive mechanical maintenance on industrial equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults on automated production machinery.
  • Carry out machine changeovers, breakdown repairs and scheduled shutdown maintenance.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings and manuals; document maintenance work orders.

Our valued industrial manufacturing client is a market leader in the design and manufacture of high-quality engineered products supplied throughout Australia and internationally. Due to continued production growth, an exciting opportunity exists for an experienced A Certified Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join their highly skilled maintenance team.

This role is responsible for ensuring plant equipment, machinery and automated production systems operate safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime through preventative and breakdown maintenance. Working within a modern manufacturing facility, you will become part of a collaborative maintenance team responsible for supporting continuous improvement initiatives, fault finding and maintaining critical production assets

Role Tasks & Duties:

The role includes but not limited to:

  • Work includes machine maintenance of pneumatic and hydraulic machines, fabrication of mechanical parts and assemblies, routine inspections, die setting & mould changes.
  • Providing support for the factory’s production operations including troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Fabrication of equipment & components that will be fitted to machinery, utilising some creativity at times.
  • Installation of new equipment when required, which will include testing & final commissioning into service tasks.
  • Perform preventative, predictive and reactive mechanical maintenance across industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on automated production machinery and plant equipment.
  • Carry out maintenance on conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, bearings, chains, belts, rollers and power transmission systems.
  • Install, overhaul and replace mechanical components to minimise production downtime.
  • Align motors, gearboxes and rotating equipment using precision measuring equipment.
  • Perform hydraulic and pneumatic fault finding, repairs and component replacement.
  • Service compressors, pumps, valves and associated production equipment.
  • Conduct machine changeovers, breakdown repairs and scheduled shutdown maintenance.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, technical manuals and engineering documentation.
  • Complete maintenance work orders, equipment history and preventative maintenance records accurately.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning and modification of new production equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with workplace health, safety and quality requirements.
  • Support production teams during equipment breakdowns to minimise operational downtime.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager
Required Skills, Experience and Competencies:
  • Hold a recognised Australian Mechanical Trade Qualification (Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent / ).
  • Proven experience working as a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter within an industrial manufacturing or automated production environment.
  • Proven welding experience of manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic abilities.
  • Experience maintaining rotating equipment including motors, pumps, gearboxes and conveyors.
  • Demonstrated experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and mechanical assembly documentation.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment including dial indicators, micrometers and verniers.
  • Welding and fabrication experience will be highly regarded.
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance programs.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Full unrestricted Australian working rights.
Additional requirements:
  • Exposure to automated manufacturing or heavy industrial environments will be highly regarded.
  • Will be expected to undergo a Rail CAT 3 pre-employment medical including laboratory Drug & Alcohol Screening.
  • Must successfully complete an Australian Police Check.
  • Hold full-time unlimited Australian working rights.
  • A valid NSW HRW Forklift (LF) Licence is highly desirable.
  • The business is subject to applicable public health requirements which may change from time to time.
What Is On Offer?

$57.20 Per Hour for stand hours.
Allowances: Shift Loadings & Overtime Time Rates Paid When Worked.
Fortnightly rotating Days & Afternoon Mon – Thurs shift, with an early Fri finish.
Standard Working Hours:
Day Shift: Mon – Thurs = 6:00am = 3:00pm, Fri = 6:00am – 12:00pm
Afternoon Shift: Mon – Thurs = 2:30pm – 10:00pm, Fri = 12:00pm – 6:00pm.
Initial 6 Months contract, with a view to extend & permanent pathway succession plans thereafter.
