Job summary

ASC Blasting and Coating, a family‑owned spray painting and sandblasting business based in Canning Vale, seeks an experienced Workshop Manager to lead our workshop into its next chapter in Western Australia. You will drive daily operations, oversee planning, scheduling, costing and client communication to ensure high quality outcomes.

You will leverage strong surface treatment expertise and a proactive approach to meet KPIs, mentor staff, and uphold QA and safety standards across every job.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in a paint workshop or similar operational setting.
• Proven leadership in workshop or operational roles within blasting, painting or coatings.
• Strong technical knowledge of surface preparation and coating application.
• Experience with pricing, costing or estimating.
• Experience using job management software, with Simpro experience highly regarded.
• Comfortable working to KPIs and reporting results.
• Excellent planning skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Positive, solutions‑focused attitude and computer-based administration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily running of the workshop, collaborating with the Operations Manager.
• Plan and coordinate all incoming and outgoing jobs, including logistics.
• Manage jobs in Simpro: scheduling, job costing, timesheets and completion.
• Track and report workshop performance against KPIs; address slippage early.
• Assist with quoting, pricing and job cost reviews.
• Lead, mentor and develop the team, fostering a positive, accountable culture.
• Ensure Quality Assurance processes and industry standards are followed on every job.
• Champion safety and continuous improvement across the workshop.
• Oversee workshop administration and keep clients informed.
• Produce coating reports with proficiency in salt testing, profile testing, DFT and other spec testing.
• Liaise with clients regarding scope of work for incoming jobs.

As the business grows, we are looking for an experienced Workshop Manager with strong surface treatment expertise to lead our workshop into its next chapter.

This is more than a traditional management role. You will play a key part in shaping our future, with a KPI bonus incentive that rewards the results you deliver.

Key responsibilities

Lead the daily running of the workshop, working closely with the Operations Manager

Plan and coordinate all incoming and outgoing jobs, including logistics

Manage jobs in Simpro, including scheduling, job costing, timesheets and job completion

Track and report workshop performance against agreed KPIs, and act early when results slip

Assist with quoting, pricing and job cost reviews

Lead, mentor and develop the team, and build a positive, accountable culture

Ensure Quality Assurance processes and industry standards are followed on every job

Champion safety and continuous improvement across the workshop

Manage workshop administration and keep clients informed

Produce coating reports,(must be proficient in salt testing, profile testing, DFT recording and other spec testing requirements).

Laise with clients regarding the scope of work for incoming jobs.

About you

Essential: minimum 4 years' experience working in a paint workshop

Proven leadership in a workshop or operational setting, ideally in blasting, painting or coatings

Strong technical knowledge of surface preparation and coating application

Experience with pricing, costing or estimating

Experience using job management software, with Simpro experience highly regarded but not necessary

Comfortable working to KPIs and reporting on results

Strong planning skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

A positive, solutions focused approach and confidence with computer based administration
