Job summary

Octopus One Staffing is seeking a skilled PAINTER for Adelaide's industrial coatings sector. The role focuses on surface preparation, coating application, and achieving high-quality finishes on mobile plant and equipment.

You will work with brushes, sprays and rollers, and must be comfortable with heights, confined spaces and WHS compliance. The successful applicant will have a strong eye for detail, reliable attendance, and a valid car license (forklift preferred).

Qualifications

• Understand surface preparation and finishes to specifications.
• Be able to mix two-part paint coatings.
• Select paints, varnishes and stains for various surfaces using brushes, sprays and rollers.
• Know wet film thickness gauges and achieve specified dry film thickness.

Our client is Adelaide's leading Industrial/ Heavy Duty Specialists of Abrasive Blasting, Bi-carb Soda Blasting and Industrial Coatings. We are equipped to handle almost any size project. Our in‑house blast room has the latest dust extraction units to meet EPA Standards and we are able to go onsite with our mobile equipment for almost any sized project. We also cater for military and mining with our approved Australian standard testing equipment for spec. work.

Our client have an opportunity for an individual that has prior experience and knowledge as a PAINTERS with a focus on quality and attention to detail.

To be considered for this position you MUST have:

• Understand surface preparation and finishes. Be able to understand and complete works to specifications.
• Be able to mix to correct ratio two‑part paint coatings etc.
• Select paints, varnishes and stains to various surfaces using brushes, sprays, and rollers.
• Understand the use of Wet Film Thickness Gauges and be able to achieve specified dry film thickness.
• Be able to work at heights and in confined spaces. Erecting scaffolding and ladders.
• Cleaning equipment and work areas. Outstanding communication skills.
• An ability to work as rostered and be on time is ESSENTIAL.
• The capacity to paint successfully to specification with a spray gun (Mainly pump and hand guns).
• An ability to produce a near automotive finish for mobile plant and equipment.
• An ability to produce a quality finish always.
• Work in a professional and safe manner.
• Understanding of WHS requirements compliance, and the correct use of PPE.
• Great problem‑solving skills.
• Car license. Forklift license preferable.
• The ability to follow instructions and ask questions to clarify.
• Strong consideration will be given to the applicant that can bring more than the above skill set along with strong work ethic and the ability to be responsible and accountable for any duties performed.
