Job summary

Brooks Hire is opening a brand-new branch in Broken Hill and seeks an experienced Workshop Foreman to lead the setup, establish processes, build a strong team and ensure our fleet is maintained to the highest standard. You will oversee day-to-day workshop operations while actively servicing, diagnosing and repairing heavy earthmoving equipment.

Ideal candidates will have a trade qualification in Heavy Duty Plant Mechanics, 3+ years as a Plant Mechanic and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• This role requires a trade qualification in Heavy Duty Plant Mechanics (Essential).
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Plant Mechanic.
• Experience leading and managing a team.
• Solid knowledge of heavy earthmoving equipment.
• Competence in routine maintenance procedures.
• Driver Licence, HR preferred; forklift/high-risk licenses desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the workshop operations.
• Establish and maintain workshop processes and procedures.
• Service, diagnose and repair heavy earthmoving equipment.
• Coordinate equipment dispatch and returns.
• Manage workshop priorities and allocate work.
• Monitor parts, tools and workshop stock.
• Liaise with clients and Brooks Hire branches.
• Maintain high housekeeping, safety and compliance.
• Support growth and development of the new branch.

We are excited to be opening a brand-new branch in Broken Hill and are looking for an experienced and motivated Workshop Foreman to take the lead in establishing and growing our workshop operations.

Drive-in, drive-out (DIDO) options are available, making this a great opportunity for candidates looking for a new challenge without necessarily needing to relocate.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on leader who wants to be involved from the beginning. You will play a key role in setting up the workshop, establishing processes, building a strong team and ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest standard.

Working predominantly with our extensive range of earthmoving and heavy equipment, you will oversee the day-to-day workshop operations while remaining hands-on with servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and managing the workshop
• Establishing and maintaining effective workshop processes and procedures
• Servicing, diagnosing and repairing heavy earthmoving equipment
• Coordinating equipment dispatch and returns
• Managing workshop priorities and allocating work
• Monitoring parts, tools and workshop stock
• Liaising with clients and other Brooks Hire branches
• Maintaining a high standard of housekeeping, safety and compliance
• Supporting the growth and development of the new branch

What we're looking for:

• Trade qualification in Heavy Duty Plant Mechanics (Essential)
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a Plant Mechanic
• Experience managing a team
• Solid knowledge of Heavy Duty Equipment
• Competence in routine maintenance procedures
• Driver License, HR preferred
• Forklift/High-risk work licenses desirable
• Previous branch management experience desirable
• Hands-on approach with sound computer skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to pass a Medical including a Drug & Alcohol test
