Job summary

The Northern Land Council is seeking a Workplace Relations Business Partner to advise employees and people leaders on employment matters, including probation, performance, conduct, grievances, complaints and separations. You will manage a varied caseload and help resolve concerns fairly, drafting descriptions and supporting investigations.

You will contribute to policy improvements, facilitate learning with stakeholders and travel to remote communities to work with regional and ranger teams.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in human resource management or business administration or equivalent
  • At least three years’ experience in an HR generalist role and interest in workplace relations
  • Strong cross-cultural communication and relationship building skills
  • Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams; confidentiality and ethics

Help people and supervisors navigate difficult workplace matters with care, sound judgement and a commitment to fairness. At the Northern Land Council, your advice will support respectful working relationships and a culturally safe workplace across Darwin and our regional teams.

About The Role

As a Workplace Relations Business Partner in our People & Culture team, you will advise employees and people leaders on matters relating to employment, such as probation, performance, conduct, grievances, complaints and separations. Working under the guidance of the People & Culture Manager, you will manage a varied caseload, help resolve concerns in a timely and fair way, and balance the needs of employees and the organisation.

You will help turn tense conversations into constructive outcomes. Your work will include drafting position descriptions and clear correspondence, supporting workplace investigations with procedural fairness, and helping people leaders build confident, people centred practices. You will also contribute to policy and process improvements, facilitate learning with stakeholders, with occasional travel to remote communities to work with our regional and ranger teams.

What You Will Bring

You are a thoughtful HR practitioner who can listen carefully, handle sensitive information with discretion and give practical advice when interests differ. You build trust across cultures and roles, stay organised when priorities compete, and understand that good workplace relations, depends on both fair process and respectful relationships.

In Addition To This, You Will Have
  • A diploma in human resource management or business administration, equivalent experience, or a combination of relevant qualifications and experience.
  • At least three years’ experience in an HR generalist role and a strong interest in workplace relations.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication and relationship building skills, with the ability to engage employees, supervisors and stakeholders.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams, and a strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct.

We Offer
  • A base salary of $88,214 per annum plus 15% superannuation paid on Base and District Allowance
  • salary sacrificing up to $15,900 + Meal Entertainment and Holiday Accommodation benefit up to $2,650 per year.
  • Other benefits under our Enterprise Agreement include:
  • District allowance of up to $5,064 (DA2) per annum for individuals with dependents and $2,777 (DA1) without dependents.
  • Generous leave provisions 5 weeks annual leave, 18 days personal leave;
  • Paid Christmas close down;
  • Upon completion of 12 months of service an Annual airfare with a net (in hand) value of $3,453
