Job summary

Northern Land Council is seeking two Principal AI & Technology Specialists to shape its enterprise AI roadmap and deliver secure, scalable solutions across the Microsoft cloud and enterprise systems.

You will guide multidisciplinary teams, strengthen AI governance and advise on privacy, security and responsible technology use, reporting to the CIO and aligning with ICT governance.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level qualifications in a technology discipline or equivalent.
  • Significant experience designing and delivering AI, automation, data platform or digital technology solutions.
  • Strong enterprise cloud architecture and Azure delivery capability.
  • Knowledge of responsible AI, privacy, cyber security and information governance.

Job description

Salary package: $172,500 inclusive of 15% Superannuation

About the Role

The Northern Land Council is seeking two Principal AI & Technology Specialists to shape its enterprise AI roadmap and deliver secure, scalable and culturally appropriate solutions. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, you will turn organisational priorities into practical AI, automation and digital initiatives, leading delivery and integration across the NLC’s Microsoft cloud and enterprise systems.

Combining technical expertise with organisational influence, you will guide multidisciplinary teams and vendors, strengthen AI governance and safeguards, and advise on privacy, security and responsible technology use. You will provide executives with clear recommendations and support continuous improvement within established ICT governance frameworks.

What you will Bring

You are an experienced technology specialist who can move confidently between enterprise strategy and practical solution delivery. You bring strong architectural judgement, the ability to resolve complex technical problems and a clear understanding of the safeguards needed to use AI responsibly. You can explain technical choices to non-technical audiences, build productive relationships and help people adopt technology that delivers measurable improvements.

In addition to this, you will have:
  • Degree-level qualifications in a relevant technology discipline, or an equivalent combination of qualifications, industry certifications and extensive relevant experience.
  • Significant experience designing, building and delivering complex AI, automation, data platform or digital technology solutions in an organisational environment.
  • Strong enterprise cloud architecture and delivery capability in Microsoft Azure, or substantial equivalent cloud experience and demonstrated ability to work effectively in an Azure environment.
  • Sound knowledge of responsible AI, privacy, data protection, cyber security and information governance, supported by strong advisory and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Experience with Azure AI services, Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform or DevOps will be well regarded, as will experience applying AI governance frameworks. An understanding of Aboriginal data sovereignty, culturally appropriate data governance or technology delivery in Aboriginal organisations and other regulated environments is desirable.
