Job summary

Programmed / PERSOLKELLY seeks an experienced Working Supervisor to oversee operational activities at our Port Melbourne site. You will lead safety, coordinate teams and contractors, and ensure projects are delivered on time and to high standards.

6-9 month contract with a strong focus on WHS, risk assessments, and continuous improvement. A Cert III in Mechanical Eng or Fabrication and proven supervisory experience are required.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification required (Cert III in Mechanical Engineering or Fabrication).
• Proven supervisory experience in trade, energy, industrial, manufacturing, or construction environments.
• Strong ability to interpret engineering/project documents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to manage contractors and operational teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety and compliance on site and model WHS standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, job safety analyses, and high-risk work approvals.
• Coordinate subcontractors, site logistics, and attend site meetings.
• Maintain daily logs, inspection records, and corrective action reports.
• Support inductions, verify licenses/tickets, ensure operatives competency.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and safety.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Working Supervisor to oversee operational activities at our Port Melbourne site. This role requires strong leadership, technical oversight, and a commitment to safety and compliance. You will be responsible for coordinating teams and contractors, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards.

Contract: 6-9 months

What You'll Do:

• Safety & Compliance: Lead by example in maintaining a safe work environment; ensure all team members follow WHS standards and procedures.
• Conduct and oversee risk assessments, job safety analyses, and high-risk work approvals.
• Contractor Coordination: Liaise with subcontractors, oversee site logistics (access, deliveries, plant positioning), and represent the team in site meetings.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain daily logs, inspection records, and corrective action reports; provide updates on progress and deviations.
• Induction & Competency Checks: Support worker inductions, verify licenses/tickets, and ensure competency across all operatives.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and safety outcomes.

What You'll Bring:

• Trade qualification (Cert III in Mechanical Engineering or Fabrication).

• Strong technical knowledge with ability to interpret engineering/project documents.
