Job summary

Emmbr in Melbourne is seeking a hands-on Workday Systems Specialist to drive configuration during the 12-month implementation journey and help build internal capability. The role focuses on practical Workday setup and continuous improvement as the platform matures.

You'll work with an implementation partner, deepen Workday HCM expertise, and take increasing ownership of the system. Flexible working is offered in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on Workday experience in a functional, systems or HRIS role.
• Strong Core HCM experience and hands-on Workday configuration.
• Experience with Workday testing, UAT and releases.
• Exposure to modules such as Absence, Recruiting, Payroll or Time & Attendance.
• Solid problem-solving skills and ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on Workday configuration and business process changes.
• Support Core HCM and additional Workday modules as they're implemented.
• Collaborate with implementation partner to validate configuration.
• Translate business requirements into practical Workday solutions through configuration.
• Support testing, integration, regression and user acceptance testing.
• Troubleshoot system issues and investigate root causes.

This is a newly created role and a great opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in Workday HCM and hands‑on configuration who wants to broaden their experience, work closely with an implementation partner and take increasing ownership of the platform as the Workday environment matures.

The opportunity

You'll work closely with internal People and Technology teams, alongside an experienced Workday implementation partner as the organisation continues its rollout.

As the platform develops, you'll help bring more Workday knowledge and capability in‑house, supporting configuration, enhancements, testing, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Your role will include:

• Hands‑on Workday configuration and business process changes
• Supporting Core HCM and additional Workday modules as they're implemented
• Working alongside the implementation partner to understand and validate configuration
• Taking requirements through configuration, testing and release
• Supporting functional, integration, regression and user acceptance testing
• Troubleshooting system issues and investigating root causes
• Supporting Workday releases, enhancements and continuous improvement
• Working with stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical Workday solutions
• Supporting reporting, integrations, data quality and system documentation as required

About you

We're more interested in the depth of your hands‑on Workday experience than the number of modules listed on your CV.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Around 3+ years of hands‑on Workday experience within a functional, systems or HRIS role
• Good experience across Core HCM
• Genuine hands‑on experience configuring Workday, rather than solely supporting users or managing external providers
• Experience with Workday business processes, enhancements and troubleshooting
• Experience supporting testing, UAT and/or Workday releases
• Exposure to one or more additional modules such as Absence, Recruiting, Compensation, Time & Attendance or Payroll
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the confidence to work with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
