Job summary

Energy Queensland is seeking a Work Group Leader/Electrical Linesperson to lead a diverse team delivering construction, maintenance, and investigation activities across Queensland. You will ensure safety, efficiency and customer outcomes while driving program delivery.

Qualifications

  • Queensland Electrical Licensing Board Certificate of Competency as an Electrical Linesperson or equivalent.
  • AQF Level 5 qualification in Management or Leadership/Business.
  • Demonstrated people leadership capability and coaching experience.

Responsibilities

As a Work Group Leader, you'll combine your trade-based expertise with your leadership capability to lead a team of both field-based and office-based employees. You'll be accountable for the safe, efficient and effective delivery of construction, maintenance, connection and investigation activities, ensuring the successful delivery of the Program of Work while maintaining a strong focus on safety, customer outcomes and team performance.

  • Lead, coach and mentor a diverse team, fostering a positive culture aligned to our values while supporting the development and performance of team members.
  • Drive a strong safety culture by role modelling safe work practices, promoting continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with all legislative and business requirements.
  • Deliver Program of Work outcomes through the efficient and effective utilisation of people, plant and resources to achieve business, customer and commercial objectives.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, government agencies and other stakeholders while delivering high-quality customer service

Location Incentives:
  • Non-Urban Zone Allowance – up to $3,180 per annum.
  • Housing Allowance – up to $7,441 per annum.
  • Locality Allowance – up to $2,142 per annum.
  • Non-Urban Time Recognition Payments - from $5,000 after 2 years.

And, if you're relocating for the role, up to $10,000 in relocation assistance is available to help make the move easier.

What You’ll Bring:
  • Queensland Electrical Licensing Board Certificate of Competency as an Electrical Linesperson, Electrical Fitter Mechanic or Electricity Supply Industry Technical Serviceperson.
  • Qualifications in Management (or Leadership/Business related discipline) equivalent to AQF Level 5, or equivalent demonstrated knowledge and skills.
  • Demonstrated people leadership capability, including mentoring, coaching and performance management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead safe and productive work teams in the delivery of technical field-based programs of work.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
We’d also love you to have:
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety.
  • Well-developed customer service skills, and a high degree of oral and written communication skills, including presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Availability for call out and emergency work.
  • Willingness to travel to surrounding areas from time to time to undertake work.
