Job summary

Star Lane Winery in Beechworth, Victoria, is seeking an experienced Winemaker to join our boutique operation in December 2026. The role requires at least three years of full‑time winemaking experience and the technical knowledge to oversee the production of premium cool‑climate wines.

You will plan, supervise and coordinate wine production from grape intake to bottling, assess maturity and quality, and lead cellar and seasonal staff while maintaining accurate records for safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• At least three years of full-time winemaking experience.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Science, Viticulture and Oenology or a related discipline is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of grape processing, fermentation, maturation and bottling.

Responsibilities

• Planning, supervising and coordinating wine production from grape intake through fermentation, maturation, blending and bottling.
• Assessing grape maturity, quality, sugar and acid levels to determine suitability for processing and optimal harvest timing.
• Coordinating crushing, pressing, juice clarification and other vintage operations, including directing cellar and seasonal winery workers.
• Monitoring fermentation through laboratory analysis, sensory evaluation and adjustment of production parameters.

Job Description

Star Lane Investments Pty Ltd T/A Star Lane Winery Star Lane Winery, is a boutique cool-climate in the foothills of the Victorian Alps near Beechworth. We are currently seeking an experienced Winemaker to join our team in December 2026. The successful candidate must have at least three years of full-time winemaking experience and the technical knowledge required to oversee the production of premium cool-climate wines. About the role The role will include, but is not limited to:

• Planning, supervising and coordinating wine production from grape intake through fermentation, maturation, blending and bottling.


• Assessing grape maturity, quality, sugar and acid levels to determine suitability for processing and optimal harvest timing.


• Coordinating crushing, pressing, juice clarification and other vintage operations, including directing cellar and seasonal winery workers.


• Monitoring and controlling fermentation through laboratory analysis, sensory

evaluation and adjustment of relevant production parameters.

• Developing wine styles and preparing blends to achieve the required flavour, aroma, colour, structure and overall quality.


• Supervising wine maturation, storage, racking, filtration, stabilisation and

• Maintaining accurate production and compliance records while ensuring food safety, hygiene, environmental and workplace safety requirements are met.

The Skills

• The following are the skills that we are looking for in successful candidates:


• At least three years of full-time Wine Maker experience.


• A relevant tertiary qualification in Science, Viticulture and Oenology or a related

discipline is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of grape processing, fermentation, maturation, blending and

bottling.

• Experience in laboratory analysis, sensory evaluation, and quality control


• Strong leadership, organisation, communication and record-keeping skills, with

knowledge of winery hygiene, food safety and workplace safety requirements.
