Job summary

ALAND is seeking a full-time WHS Officer based in North Sydney, NSW to uphold health, safety and environmental compliance for construction operations. You will work to protect workers and support project success.

You will perform site inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, training, and liaise with authorities. The role requires a tertiary OHS qualification, 2+ years' construction WHS experience, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience as a WHS Officer or Safety Advisor, construction preferred.
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation and best practices.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive, analytical and problem-solving mindset.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Willing to work 6 days per week.

Join the dynamic team at ALAND as a full-time WHS Officer based in North Sydney, NSW. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety and environmental compliance of our construction operations, contributing to the well-being of our workforce and the success of our projects.

You must have prior experience working on construction sites.

What you'll be doing

• Implement and monitor WHS policies, procedures and systems to maintain compliance with relevant legislation and regulations
• Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, implement corrective actions and report findings to senior management
• Provide WHS training and support to project teams, promoting a positive safety culture
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders on WHS matters
• Maintain comprehensive WHS records and documentation
• Continuously review and improve WHS practices to drive continuous improvement
• Audit company locations to ensure hazard and risk processes are completed and compliant
• Attend to any safety incidents and accidents. Complete appropriate ALAND documentation of circumstances/ instances and prompt reporting to the Construction Manager.
• Develop and promote effective corrective actions that are evaluated and implemented.
• Ensure safety performance data is complete and reported in a timely manner as required by ALAND procedures
• Audit daily plant pre-start checks and records
• Audit workplace Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments.

What we're looking for:

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar WHS Officer or Safety Advisor role, preferably in the construction industry
• Demonstrated understanding of WHS legislation, regulations and best practices
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Proactive, analytical and problem-solving mindset
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement
• Willing to work 6 days per week
