Job summary

Mercy Health in Melbourne (Werribee Mercy Hospital) is seeking a part-time WHS Coordinator to partner with site teams and drive compliance with health and safety programs. You will develop and deliver WHS training, support risk-based activities and advise stakeholders on suitable safety controls.

The role requires strong knowledge of WHS legislation, collaboration across teams, and a proactive approach to safety investigations and audits, ensuring clear safety communications and ongoing

Qualifications

• Knowledge of WHS legislation and compliance requirements.
• Experience designing and delivering WHS training programs.
• Ability to provide guided advice on WHS matters to teams and stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate legislative WHS requirements clearly to teams.

About the opportunity

The WHS Coordinator is a business partner role and is responsible for the following:

• Providing support in the management of site WHS activities including ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and in accordance with organisational programs, policies and procedures.
• Designing, developing and delivering WHS training and information programs, and providing ongoing support to sites for risk based activities.
• Working closely with stakeholders to ensure a high standard of service delivery is provided.

Technical Expertise

• Provide guided advice on WHS matters to the WHS team and to stakeholders
• Understand legislative requirements relating to WHS and be able to communicate these to the WHS team and stakeholders
• Participate in and contribute to team/unit initiatives to resolve common issues
• Assist with resolution of issues and potential problems and select the most effective solutions from a range of options
• Provide ongoing support with activities that have risks at allocated sites

Safety Management

• Participate in projects, safety investigations and audits
• Attend relevant meetings including WHS Committees as required
• Participate in working groups and workshops on WHS Matters
• Disseminate safety communications for relevant topics (issues and activities)

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

• A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.

Hours: 0.5 FTE / 19 hours per week / weekdays only / flexible start and finish times
