Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a WHS Coordinator for a part-time, 0.5 FTE role based at Werribee Mercy Hospital. The role focuses on managing site WHS activities, delivering training, and supporting high standards of service delivery. This is a fixed-term contract for six months with flexible start/finish times.

You will need to obtain and maintain a current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check, and you will work with a multidisciplinary team to drive safety improvements across sites.

About the opportunity

The WHS Coordinator is a business partner role and is responsible for the following:

  • Providing support in the management of site WHS activities including ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and in accordance with organisational programs, policies and procedures.
  • Designing, developing and delivering WHS training and information programs, and providing ongoing support to sites for risk based activities.
  • Working closely with stakeholders to ensure a high standard of service delivery is provided.
What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you will have:

Technical Expertise
  • Provide guided advice on WHS matters to the WHS team and to stakeholders
  • Understand legislative requirements relating to WHS and be able to communicate these to the WHS team and stakeholders
  • Participate in and contribute to team/unit initiatives to resolve common issues
  • Assist with resolution of issues and potential problems and select the most effective solutions from a range of options
  • Provide ongoing support with activities that have risks at allocated sites
Safety Management
  • Participate in projects, safety investigations and audits
  • Attend relevant meetings including WHS Committees as required
  • Participate in working groups and workshops on WHS Matters
  • Disseminate safety communications for relevant topics (issues and activities)

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
