Job summary

Office of Sport is seeking a WHS Business Partner to lead and continuously improve our Health and Safety Management System across NSW centres and venues. You will partner with executives to embed health, safety and wellbeing into planning, decision-making and operations.

This strategic role focuses on driving safety culture, leadership capability, risk management and psychosocial risk programs, delivering measurable improvements for employees, participants and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Risk Management, Compliance or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing WHS frameworks, systems and programs within a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of current WHS legislation, risk management principles and contemporary safety practices.
  • Experience providing strategic and operational WHS advice to senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and work from Office of Sport locations across NSW as required.

Job description

  • Salary ranges from $133,348 to $146,945 + super & leave loading.
  • Temporary Full-time Opportunity until 31 March 2028 with the possibility of further extension or conversion to ongoing employment subject to business needs
  • Regular travel required to our centres and venues
About the role

As the WHS Business Partner, you will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Office of Sport's Health and Safety Management System (HSMS), partnering with leaders across the organisation to embed health, safety and wellbeing into everyday operations.

This is a strategic and influential role where you will drive safety culture, build leadership capability, improve risk management practices and deliver initiatives that create safer workplaces for employees, participants and visitors. You will work closely with executives and senior leaders to ensure WHS is integrated into planning, decision-making and operational delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with executives, senior leaders and managers to provide expert WHS advice, strengthen safety capability and embed WHS into business planning and operational decision-making.
  • Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of WHS, wellbeing and psychosocial risk management programs that promote compliance, safety leadership and positive safety outcomes.
  • Monitor and analyse WHS performance, emerging risks and industry trends, providing evidence-based recommendations that drive continuous improvement across the organisation.
About You

You are an experienced WHS professional with a strong track record of partnering with leaders to deliver meaningful safety outcomes. You combine strategic thinking with practical operational expertise and are confident influencing stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.

You have a passion for building positive safety cultures, developing leadership capability and driving continuous improvement through data, insights and evidence-based decision making. Your ability to communicate complex WHS matters clearly and build trusted relationships will enable you to succeed in this highly collaborative role.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Risk Management, Compliance or a related discipline, and/or extensive relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing WHS frameworks, systems and programs within a complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of current WHS legislation, risk management principles and contemporary safety practices.
