Job summary

The Office of Sport NSW is seeking a WHS Consultant to help create safer, healthier workplaces across diverse environments, with regular travel to centres and venues in NSW. The position is a temporary_full_time assignment until 31 December 2027, with potential extension or conversion based on business needs.

You will provide specialist WHS advice, support leaders and employees, and contribute to the Health and Safety Management System while driving safety improvements and a positive safety

Qualifications

• WHS Certificate IV or equivalent work health and safety experience.
• Knowledge and experience applying WHS legislation, policies and risk management practices.
• Experience providing practical WHS advice and support in a workplace environment.
• Current and valid NSW Driver Licence.
• Ability to travel to and work from Office of Sport sites across NSW as required.
• Eligible to work in Australia and clear National Police Check.

• Coordinate and deliver WHS programs, training, audits, inspections and incident investigations that strengthen safety capability and foster a proactive safety culture.
• Analyse safety data, monitor corrective actions and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance organisational WHS performance and risk management outcomes.

• Salary ranges from $116,981 to $129,492 + super & leave loading.
• Temporary Full time Opportunity until 31 Dec 2027 with the possibility of further extension or conversion to ongoing employment subject to business needs
• Regular travel required to our centres and venues

About the role

In this hands-on role, you will provide specialist WHS advice and support to leaders and employees, helping to strengthen safety performance, ensure legislative compliance, and promote a positive safety culture across the organisation.

Working closely with the WHS Business Partner and key stakeholders, you will contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health and Safety Management System (HSMS), coordinate safety programs and initiatives, conduct audits and investigations, and use data-driven insights to improve safety outcomes across the Office of Sport.

About you

You are a motivated WHS professional with strong knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, risk management principles and best practice safety systems. You enjoy building relationships and partnering with stakeholders at all levels, providing practical advice and solutions that improve workplace safety. With strong analytical and communication skills, you can confidently manage competing priorities while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and employee wellbeing.

Essential Requirements

• WHS Certificate IV or equivalent work health and safety experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying WHS legislation, policies and risk management practices.
• Experience providing practical WHS advice and support in a workplace environment.
• Current and valid NSW Driver Licence.
• Ability to travel to and work from Office of Sport sites across NSW as required.
