Job summary

The Office of Sport is seeking a WHS Consultant to deliver practical health and safety guidance across NSW centres, venues and corporate spaces. You will work with leaders to strengthen safety performance and ensure legislative compliance, while promoting a positive safety culture.

The role involves coordinating programs, conducting audits and investigations, and using data-driven insights to improve outcomes across all sites. Travel to Office of Sport locations is required.

Job description

Join the Office of Sport as a WHS Consultant and help create safer, healthier workplaces across a diverse range of sporting, recreational and corporate environments.

  • Salary ranges from $116,981 to $129,492 + super & leave loading.
  • Temporary Full-time Opportunity until 31 March 2028 with the possibility of further extension or conversion to ongoing employment subject to business needs
  • Regular travel required to our centres and venues
About the role

In this hands-on role, you will provide specialist WHS advice and support to leaders and employees, helping to strengthen safety performance, ensure legislative compliance, and promote a positive safety culture across the organisation.

Working closely with the WHS Business Partner and key stakeholders, you will contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health and Safety Management System (HSMS), coordinate safety programs and initiatives, conduct audits and investigations, and use data-driven insights to improve safety outcomes across the Office of Sport.

Responsibilities
  • Provide practical WHS advice and guidance to managers and employees on legislation, policies, risk management and workplace safety matters to support informed decision-making and compliance.
  • Coordinate and deliver WHS programs, training, audits, inspections and incident investigations that strengthen safety capability and foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Analyse safety data, monitor corrective actions and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance organisational WHS performance and risk management outcomes.
About you

You are a motivated WHS professional with strong knowledge of workplace health and safety legislation, risk management principles and best practice safety systems. You enjoy building relationships and partnering with stakeholders at all levels, providing practical advice and solutions that improve workplace safety. With strong analytical and communication skills, you can confidently manage competing priorities while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and employee wellbeing.

  • WHS Certificate IV or equivalent work health and safety experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience applying WHS legislation, policies and risk management practices.
  • Experience providing practical WHS advice and support in a workplace environment.
  • Current and valid NSW Driver Licence.
  • Ability to travel to and work from Office of Sport sites across NSW as required.
