MADEC Australia in Brisbane is looking for a reliable Casual Regional Liaison Officer to support PALM scheme workers, helping them settle into the local community and access practical and wellbeing support.
You’ll build trusted relationships, assist with appointments, transport and accommodation, and connect workers with local services. The role requires initiative, good judgement, and strong communication, with local availability.
Great with people? Calm under pressure? Know when to take action?
We're looking for a reliable, resourceful and community-minded person to join MADEC as a Casual Regional Liaison Officer, supporting workers participating in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme across Brisbane.
This is a unique opportunity to make a genuine difference for workers who have travelled from Pacific Island nations to live and work in Australia.
You'll be a trusted point of contact, helping workers settle into their community, navigate everyday challenges and access practical and wellbeing support.
But this role is about more than being a friendly face. We're looking for someone who can think on their feet, recognise urgency, take responsibility and confidently navigate situations when things don't go to plan.
You'll provide a combination of pastoral care, practical assistance and worker advocacy, including:
You don't necessarily need a background in community services. We're looking for someone who is dependable, approachable and confident taking responsibility, particularly when situations don't go to plan.
You'll bring:
Experience in community services, healthcare, disability or aged care, education, employment services, multicultural support or another people-focused environment would be highly regarded.
This is a casual position, with hours varying according to worker and operational needs.
Some availability outside standard business hours will be required for worker arrivals, emergencies and other time-sensitive support.
Because timely, face-to-face assistance is an important part of the role, we're particularly interested in candidates who are based locally to the workers they'll be supporting and able to respond promptly when required.
You'll also need:
You'll have the opportunity to do meaningful work, build genuine relationships and help workers feel safe, connected and supported while living and working in Australia.
If you're someone who can balance genuine care for people with the initiative, judgement and accountability to act when challenges arise, we'd love to hear from you.
