Job summary

Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst, Portland NSW, invites applications for a Part-time Wellbeing Officer (Primary) at St Joseph's CPS, Portland. The 0.1 FTE, temporary role runs Jan 2027 to Jan 2028 and focuses on promoting students’ physical, emotional and social wellbeing within a supportive school community.

You will work with leadership, teachers and families to implement wellbeing programs, develop social and emotional skills, and connect students with counselling and supports as

Qualifications

• Hold tertiary teaching qualifications and accreditation to teach in NSW.
• Demonstrate understanding of child development, mental health and wellbeing in a primary school context.
• Experience supporting students and implementing wellbeing practices to support engagement in learning.
• Clear, compassionate communication and ability to build respectful relationships with students, families and staff.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently to identify wellbeing needs and implement responses.

Responsibilities

• Promote students’ physical, emotional and social wellbeing within the school community.
• Support the implementation of wellbeing frameworks and whole-school positive behaviour approaches.
• Develop and implement programs to build social and emotional skills and healthy habits.
• Provide emotional support to students and facilitate access to counselling when needed.
• Use data to identify needs, monitor progress and evaluate wellbeing initiatives, and provide staff with resources.
• Lead professional learning and build partnerships with families and external professionals.
